Barcelona Jewish Film Festival 2026
By Charlotte Stace

The Barcelona Jewish Film Festival returns for its 28th edition with a fresh programme of films that explore Jewish-Arab and Jewish-Muslim histories across the Middle East, North Africa and the Mediterranean. This year’s focus looks at a past of shared languages, traditions and cultural worlds, and how colonisation, nationalism and modern borders fractured those bonds.
At the centre of the programme is Moroccan-born filmmaker Simone Bitton, whose work investigates memory, exile, Palestine, Morocco and Jewish-Arab identity. Screenings include Les mille et un jours du Hajj Edmond, Mahmoud Darwich: et la terre, comme la langue…, Mur, Rachel and Ziyara, alongside films such as Coexistence, My Ass! by Amber Fares, No sea tu falta by Moisés Salama, and Lyd by Rami Younis and Sarah Ema Friedland.
The festival also launches Barcelona Independent Jewish-Arab Films this year - a new platform dedicated to independent cinema from Jewish-Arab and Jewish-Muslim worlds.
