In 2003, while in the middle of a blues concert, two friends came up with the idea that they would hold a festival of blues music (the music most often overlooked by mainstream media) in the neighbourhood of Nou Barris (one of the city’s most overlooked areas). And so the Barcelona Blues Festival was born. Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, it’s back with a new set of live performances for the city’s blues lovers.

Spread across three full days, the lineup features performances from Joan Pay Cumelles and Joan Escudero, Billy Branch, Noah and The Hell Drinkers, Tia Carrol Band, Joan Nemeth and The Blue Dreamers, and a Harmonica Showdown. The festival comes to an end on day three with an outdoors Jam Session in the Castillo de Torre Baro.

So, if you’re a blues fan, make sure to put this in your calendar. We’ll see you there.
