Catalunya’s annual animation showcase turns 21 this year, celebrating with another program full of color and creativity in Lleida from February 22^nd to the 25^th. Before then, however, CCCB hosts Animac Walks, a 60-minute summary of last year’s festival featuring shorts from countries such as Slovenia, Myanmar and Canada.

Titles include Peter Baynton’s award-winning Weather the Storm, a touching tale of an elderly man grieving for his late wife, created as music video for Benjamin Scheuer’s song of the same title. Other highlights are The Boy & the Hedgehog, a stop motion story from Catalan creators Marc Riba and Anna Solanas, and Hana Novaková’s Borderlines, which explores the boundaries between people and neighbors in a minimalistic style.

All screenings are free and suitable for all ages – a great way to discover international talents from the world of animation, or simply to while away a winter’s afternoon during the holidays. (Closed Sunday to Tuesday, December 31^st to January 2^nd.)
