Catalunya’s annual animation showcase turns 21 this year, celebrating with another program full of color and creativity in Lleida from February 22nd to the 25th. Before then, however, CCCB hosts Animac Walks, a 60-minute summary of last year’s festival featuring shorts from countries such as Slovenia, Myanmar and Canada.

Titles include Peter Baynton’s award-winning Weather the Storm, a touching tale of an elderly man grieving for his late wife, created as music video for Benjamin Scheuer’s song of the same title. Other highlights are The Boy & the Hedgehog, a stop motion story from Catalan creators Marc Riba and Anna Solanas, and Hana Novaková’s Borderlines, which explores the boundaries between people and neighbors in a minimalistic style.

All screenings are free and suitable for all ages – a great way to discover international talents from the world of animation, or simply to while away a winter’s afternoon during the holidays. (Closed Sunday to Tuesday, December 31st to January 2nd.)
