The Asian Film Festival Barcelona | AFFBCN, the film festival that celebrates films made by Asian directors around the world, returns to Barcelona for its 11th edition.
As usual, the event remains faithful to its origins in which it presents a program that includes over 100 films coming from roughly 25 countries in Asia and the Asia–Pacific region. Each has been selected for its high quality and interest, with many of the films tackling issues such as historical narratives, gender issues, political conflict, and much more. Some of standout films included this year are Arnold is a Model Student (2022) by Sorayos Prapapan, Blue Again (2022) by Thapanee Loosuwan, and Evil Does Not Exist (2023) by Ryusuke Hamaguchi.
Filmoteca de Catalunya, Cinemas Girona, Phenomena, CaixaForum and Zumzeig are this year’s venues for the in-person film screenings, while FILMIN and Betevé will be the platforms for the online sessions.
