Festival U22 returns as Barcelona’s young cinema festival. It’s a space for new filmmakers, and fresh ideas. Organised by and for younger generations, it gives emerging Catalan and international voices room to show their work, meet audiences and network.

As the name suggests, the festival is open to filmmakers aged 22 or under, welcoming both shorts and feature-length works across any theme or genre. Shorts must run under 40 minutes, while longer works are considered features. First-timers and more experienced young filmmakers are equally encouraged to submit.

Beyond the films, there’ll be screenings, talks, workshops, industry sessions and meetings spread across spaces including Fundació Joan Miró, Zumzeig and Paral·lel 62. This year’s programme features sessions dedicated to Adolfo Arrieta, Rocío Quillahuaman and Canódromo Abandonado, plus Appointment for an Image, an audiovisual essay programme curated by Víctor Ruiz Colomer.
