FRONT film fest
By Charlotte Stace
This month sees the fifth edition of FRONT - The International Film Festival of Conflict and Peace. This film festival offers a human perspective of both local and global conflicts, and tells the stories of historical and democratic memory through audiovisual means.
FRONT is a space for culture, social transformation, critical thinking and the dissemination of original local and international cinema. For this new edition, there’ll be 15 film screenings, each putting conflict at its core. But that’s not to say that these are simply war films. While war is often the backdrop, they feature other themes such as borders, displacement, gender and national politics.
Aside from the screenings, the festival will also feature Thought Tables. Here, a range of experts and filmmakers will come together to debate the central issues shown in the films in front of an audience. Access to each screening is €6. There are weekend passes (6 screenings = €20) and entire festival passes (12 screenings = €38).
