LOOP Festival 2026
By Charlotte Stace

LOOP Barcelona returns for another celebration of video art, experimental film and contemporary creativity, bringing together artists, galleries, museums and cultural institutions from around the world. Founded in 2003, the festival has become an important meeting point for artists working with moving images, transforming spaces across the city into temporary exhibition venues.
This edition, titled Xiu Xiu (Catalan for 'whispers'), explores how we inhabit and share spaces, from our homes and public buildings to the environments we share with plants and animals. It features works by Rosa Tharrats, Maria Alcaide, Natasha Tontey, Joachim Koester, José Val del Omar and Salem de Amar, with exhibitions taking place at institutions including Museu Picasso, MNAC, Fundació Enric Miralles and Can Framis.
There are also screenings, performances and discussions, including Carlos Casas's Krakatoa at CCCB and a closing event featuring Forbidden Dances and DJ sets. The LOOP Fair also brings international galleries together to showcase contemporary video art.
