+RAIN Film Festival 2026
By Charlotte Stace

+RAIN Film Festival explores one of cinema’s new frontiers: filmmaking shaped by artificial intelligence. Organised by Universitat Pompeu Fabra, it brings together artists, researchers and filmmakers working with generative AI, looking beyond the hype to ask what these tools are doing to authorship, narrative, aesthetics and the creative process.
The programme is split across research talks, screenings, live performances and more. The competitive film section includes AI-assisted works such as The Electric Kiss, At Least I Will Be 8 294 400 Pixel, The Eggregore’s Theory, Format Error Occurred at Offset, Ethereal Rhythms, Everything Rhymes, No Home Movies, False Witness and Who Was Here?
Alongside the films, expect talks on law, authorship, emotion, translation and AI workflows, plus live audiovisual performances and debates around how machines are changing image-making. This festival serves as a poignant reminder of how AI is transforming the future of cinema and art, and presents a bold vision of what the future of creativity will look like.
