Released in 1949, Adam's Rob was ahead of its time, to say the least, in its critical and comedic examination of gender roles, marriage, love, ego and equality. One of cinema's most iconic duos, Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn, star as married lawyers Adam and Amanda Bonner, who find themselves working on opposite sides of a sensational murder case, putting their marriage to a test few couples have had to negotiate. Professional rivalry soon spills over into their home life, and superbly pitched comedic conflict ensues.

Amanda champions the film's progressive messages about women deserving the same freedoms and moral allowances as men, while Adam personifies the discomfort of establishment men confronted with a changing world. Sharply scripted and socially conscious, Adam's Rib is still rightly regarded as one of the finest romantic comedies in history.
