Amors on FIRE!! 2026
By Charlotte Stace

Amors on FIRE!! 2026 brings a punchy selection of nine standout films from Barcelona’s FIRE!! LGTBIQ+ Film Festival. They’re stories with real bite that celebrate different ways of loving and of living gender identity.
The programme has a wide range of standout films: Cactus Pears tackles conservative rural mindsets in India; Sally dives into machismo and homophobia in 1980s NASA; and If I Die, It’ll Be of Joy confronts prejudice toward older LGTBIQ+ people. You’ll also journey to Vietnam with Jimmy in Saigon and the Philippines with Asog, alongside two very different lesbian coming-of-age stories in Jone, a vegades and Una balla, l’altra no.
Two essential Argentinian titles round things out: Los amantes astronautas (Marco Berger’s latest comedy) and Tesis sobre una domesticación, based on Camila Sosa Villada’s novel and starring Sosa Villada herself. The festival promises to be bold and full of heart.
