Barcelona International Women's Film Festival Vol. II
By Charlotte Stace

Volume II of the Mostra Internacional de Films de Dones (MIFDB) returns this September following the success of its May edition earlier this year. This feminist film festival has, since 1993, championed the visibility and recognition of female filmmakers worldwide. This year's theme, "In Strange Company", invites audiences to explore cinema that challenges conventional narratives and highlights desire over fear in turbulent times.
The fall edition features: El diablo nunca duerme (1994) a documentary by Lourdes Portillo presented with commentary by Daniela García; Lo que queda de ti (2025) by Gala Gracia; Señorita extraviada (2001), another poignant work by Portillo; and La cançó de la Sima (2024) by Roya Sadat.
Beyond film screenings, the festival offers activities that focus on a number of important themes, from lesbian and bisexual narratives to inclusivity and bringing more women into filmmaking. There are also educational programmes and conferences.
