BCN Sports Film Festival 2026
By Charlotte Stace

BCN Sports Film Festival is Barcelona’s annual showcase for sport on screen featuring documentaries, fiction and shorts that use athletic stories to explore resilience, adventure, identity, community, culture, and so much more.
The 2026 edition mixes screenings with a programme of talks and industry sessions. Side activities this year include a practical session on the legal side of documentary-making (archive use, image rights, privacy), plus discussions on topics like teamwork, sustainability, mental health, the female gaze in sports filmmaking, and work-life balance in elite sport.
The programme this year is structured into themed sessions with specific film line-ups. Films include “Laure: mental health and privacy” (featuring Laure Laure Laure!), “Second chances” (including ManMade, Run Like We and This Is Not About Swimming), and “Resiliencies” (including Cool Hand Jesus and Aliento/Breathe). The festival’s official selection spans 85 international titles across genres.
