Brain Film Fest 2026
By Charlotte Stace

Brain Film Fest is Barcelona’s film festival where cinema meets neuroscience, mental health, and how we live - hosted at the CCCB and driven by the Pasqual Maragall Foundation (with Minimal Films). Each edition pairs screenings with conversations, workshops and roundtables, designed to be accessible.
And yes—there’s a proper lineup. The 2026 programme includes feature films such as Romería (opening), Chico & Rita, No Other Land, Alcarràs, Sundays, Three Goodbyes, Her Difference, Black Butterflies, and Flores para Antonio (closing), and more.
The “brain” part isn’t just branding: alongside films, you’ll find sessions on themes like healthy cities, noise and health, and housing as a wellbeing factor. It is the only festival of its kind in Europe and has been held annually since 2018 as part of Brain Awareness Week - a global campaign to increase knowledge about the brain as well as the progress and benefits of research.
