Cinema Lliure a la Platja is the summer cinema plan that just doesn't get old. It brings independent films, sea air and sand. Now in its 15th edition, the cycle brings free open-air screenings to beaches in Barcelona, Catalunya and the Balearic Islands, with films shown in original version and a short film before each feature.

The 2026 programme includes Molt lluny, La llum de l’Aisha, Romería and La misteriosa mirada del flamenco. Shorts in the wider programme include La gent normal, Plazer bat, Correspondencias afásicas, Arrange Room and En el nom de les flors.

The organisers are all about showing that great cinema belongs on the beach, not just in stuffy cinemas full of film buffs. Films under the stars, completely free? It’s a hell yes from us.

Tip: Arrive early to get a good spot as it's expected to be very busy. Films are shown in their original language with Spanish subtitles.
