Cinema out of place
By Charlotte Stace

An offshoot of the International Women’s Film Festival currently taking place in the city, Cinema Fora de Lloc is an outdoor cinema series that screens films throughout the month of June.
The event presents a thoughtfully chosen lineup of films that centre on lesbian narratives. Spanning from the 1990s to today, the selection blends genres such as comedy, drama, action and musicals with each offering a distinct perspective on love, identity and the diverse expressions of gender and sexuality.
Some of the highlights from this year’s programme include: Chutney Popcorn (1999), a comedy about family and queer identity; The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love (1995), a groundbreaking teen romance; and Queens of Drama (2024), a sharp and witty look at friendship and performance. Films will be shown in the districts of Gràcia, Nou Barris and Ciutat Vella. We’ll see you there.
