A highlight on Barcelona’s film festival calendar, the Indigenous Film Festival - IndiFest - offers one of the biggest platforms for indigenous voices around the world. Dedicated to celebrating the depth and diversity of indigenous cultures, it invites us to engage with stories that challenge and inspire.
Each year, the festival transforms the city into a cultural hub, presenting an intriguing selection of films and documentaries that delve into the realities of indigenous communities worldwide. For 2025, the theme “Borders” takes centre stage, sparking conversations on identity, belonging and the challenges of division.
The festival kicks off with a screening of the Mexican director Luna Marán’s film, Cicadas (2024). Some other highlights this year include: the Amazonian film, Ayahuasca (2025); Jene Nete – The World of Water (2024), a film about the Shipibo-conibo people of Peru; and Free Rivers for Life (2024), a film about the Ngäbe-buglé people of Panama.
