IndiFest Film Festival

IndiFest, the Barcelona Indigenous Film Festival, returns for its 19th edition with a line-up of films dedicated to Indigenous stories, human rights and different ways of seeing the world. This year’s theme is “Territori oníric” - dream territory - exploring dreams as spaces of knowledge, memory, spirituality and political resistance in Indigenous worldviews.
Some of this year’s highlights include: Runa Simi, about a young Quechua activist in Cusco who dreams of dubbing The Lion King into Quechua; Standing Above the Clouds, following three Native Hawaiian families defending the sacred mountain of Mauna Kea; and a special Greenland session with Pipaluk K. Jørgensen of Nuuk International Film Festival, presenting Sumé: The Sound of a Revolution.
There are also short film sessions around territory, identity and Indigenous cosmologies, including titles such as Raxnaquil K’aslemal: Plenitud de la vida, Ixquic and Superindigenous. There’ll also be documentaries, shorts, conversations and online screenings that place Indigenous voices at the centre.
