International Architecture Film Festival 2025
By Charlotte Stace

BARQ is back! The International Architecture Film Festival Barcelona - the only international competition film festival of architecture in Spain - is dedicated to the intersection of architecture, design and film.
The program includes feature and short documentaries in competition, special sessions, and parallel activities - such as lectures, debates and workshops - aimed at deepening the dialogue between cinematic expression and architectural ideas. Supported by institutions like the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, COAC, and Arquin-FAD, it seeks to define architectural film as a genre.
This year’s festival opens with the documentary E.1027 - Eileen Gray and the House by the Sea, a cinematic exploration of modernist architect-designer Eileen Gray. The lineup includes feature-length films such as 27 Storeys (Austria/Germany), Lewerentz Divine Darkness (Sweden), Hydroelectric Joy (France), Terraforma (Ireland), v e i n s (Romania) and Ouvidor (Brazil). Short-film sessions address themes such as urban over-construction, domestic space, and unseen peripheries.
