International Architecture Film Festival 2026
By Kit Macdonald

BARQ Festival, Barcelona's International Architecture Film Festival, returns for its 5th edition. It brings together cinema, architecture and design through a varied programme of documentaries, screenings and discussions. As part of Barcelona's year as World Capital of Architecture, the festival looks at how the spaces we build shape our lives, from housing and urban development to sustainability, heritage and social change.
The 2026 edition opens with La Ricarda: Melodía de una casa, a documentary exploring the history of Barcelona's iconic modernist Casa Gomis. Other highlights include Stardust: A Story of Love and Architecture, about architects Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown; COPAN, which explores life inside one of the most emblematic buildings in São Paulo; and Barbara Buser - Swiss Pioneer of Sustainability, which follows an architect dedicated to saving buildings from demolition. The festival also features short-film competitions, Q&As and special screenings.
