Jewish Film Festival 2024
By Charlotte Stace
Jewish-themed culture has been celebrated by the Barcelona Jewish Film Festival (Festival Cinema Jueu) since 1999. Jewish people settled in Barcelona during Roman times and have since played a huge role in the development of the city and its society.
This film festival offers a platform for the exploration and celebration of Jewish culture. Its main aims are to: educate people on the intercultural nature of Jewish people; provide a space for meetings and open dialogue; and place Jewish culture on the city’s cultural agenda.
Running across the entire month of October, La Filmoteca, Institut Français and Cinema Truffaut will screen a range of some of the most ground-breaking and thought-provoking films from Jewish filmmakers based around the world. This year's programme includes: Histoires d’Amérique (1988), A House in Jerusalem (2023), The Perfect Number (2022), and A Narrow Bridge (2022).
