The fifth edition of La Inesperada, a non-fiction film festival founded by Nuria Giménez and Miquel Martí Freixas, takes place this February. Dedicated to exploring the diverse landscape of non-fiction storytelling, this film festival embraces a broad spectrum of cinematic and visual arts practices.

This year’s program consists of seven curated sessions featuring 18 films, including four feature films and 14 short films, many of which will premiere in Catalunya. A key highlight of the festival is Palestinian filmmaker Kamal Aljafari, who will present his latest feature, A Fidai Film, along with other notable works from his career. He will also engage in a discussion with philosopher Xavier Bassas. Other standout screenings include Organizar la indisciplina by Pere Alberó, El espíritu de la araña by Antonia Rossi, and a special 3D experimental cinema session by American filmmaker Blake Williams.
