Labyrinth 2026
By Charlotte Stace

Labyrinth (1986) returns to the big screen at La Filmoteca, offering the perfect excuse to revisit one of the most beloved cult fantasies of the 1980s. Directed by Jim Henson, it stars a young Jennifer Connelly alongside David Bowie in full Goblin King glory.
The film follows Sarah, a teenage girl who has to navigate a twisting, enchanted labyrinth to rescue her baby brother, stolen by the Goblin King. Along the way, she encounters bizarre creatures, puzzles and challenges that test her courage and determination.
Labyrinth is as much about growing up as it is about monsters, mazes and magic. Bowie’s musical interludes add a glam-rock edge, and the hand-crafted creatures and sets take us right back to special effects of the 80s. Acknowledging its long-lasting impact, in 2008, the American Film Institute nominated Labyrinth for inclusion on its Top 10 Fantasy Films list. Now’s your chance to catch it on the big screen.
