Nouvelle Vague (2025) tells the behind-the-scenes story of one of cinema’s most iconic movements, tracing the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s groundbreaking film, Breathless, in 1959. Told in the style of Godard’s own film, it captures the energy, experimentation and rebelliousness that defined the French New Wave.

Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Richard Linklater, the film brings his signature observational style to a story about creativity and cinematic risk. Through a mix of French and English dialogue, it immerses viewers in the world of post-war Paris, showing how Godard and his collaborators challenged conventions and improvised on set.

The cast - including leads Guillaume Marbeck and Zoey Deutch - brings these legendary figures to life, capturing both the intensity of the creative process and joy of artistic discovery. Nouvelle Vague is a love letter to Godard, Breathless, and the enduring spirit of a movement that changed film forever.
