Nina
By Charlotte Stace
The Teatre CCCB is showing Andrea Jaurrieta’s new film Nina (2024). Starring Patricia López Arnaiz, Darío Grandinetti, Aina Picarolo, and Iñigo Aramburu, it’s been labelled one of the most interesting films to come out of Spain so far this year.
The film follows Nina who decides to return to the coastal town where she grew up, with a shotgun in her bag and one goal: to take revenge on Pedro, a famous writer to whom the town now pays tribute. Her reunion with her place of origin, with her memories of her past and with Blas, a childhood friend of hers, makes her reconsider whether revenge is her only option. This is a contemporary female-forward thriller, where past and present merge in a story of revenge.
The film premiered in the 27th Málaga Film Festival's main competition this March and was met with critical acclaim. Don’t miss it on the big screen.
