Radu Jude. Curtmetratges (II),
By Kit Macdonald

Radu Jude. Curtmetratges (II) brings together a selection of short films that highlight the Romanian director’s evolution from sharply observed realism to the kind of essayistic, formally adventurous work, scu has such as Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn and Kontinental '25, that has won him international acclaim. Spanning different periods of his career, the programme demonstrates Jude’s fascination with history, memory, ideology and the ways images shape our understanding of the world.
Four shorts are included: Lampa cu caciula, Alexandra, O umbra de nor and Trece si prin perete. Across these films, everyday situations often become vehicles for larger political and philosophical questions as Jude flits deftly between fiction, documentary and experimental forms, combining dry humour with a sceptical examination of authority, nationalism and collective myths.
