A young Josh Brolin stars in The Goonies, the quintessential 1980s kids’ adventure – a funny, energetic blend of treasure hunt, slapstick comedy and suburban fantasy. When Mikey Walsh (Sean Astin) and his friends discover an old map in his family’s attic, they follow its clues into a network of caves in search of the legendary treasure of pirate One-Eyed Willy. Their quest soon brings them into conflict with the criminal Fratelli family, while increasingly elaborate traps and underground dangers create a breathless race against time. 

Written by Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus, the film is a Spielbergian mix of peril, humour and wide-eyed wonder. Its young cast, including Brolin, Corey Feldman, Martha Plimpton and Ke Huy Quan, is vital to its enduring place in the pantheon of childhood adventure cinema.
