Wallay! The Barcelona African Film Festival stands as Barcelona’s leading celebration of African cinema. This year, it continues its exploration of the continent’s creativity and cultural richness through film.

Now in its 8th edition, the festival journeys into the realms of belief, the emotional weight of absence, and the intricate roots that shape who we are. From the Sahel to Angola, from Nigeria to Madagascar, Wallay! continues its journey through the diversity and creativity of the African continent, bursting with freedom and comedy.

This year’s inauguration kicks off with a screening of the film Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti with its director Bolanle Austen-Peters and guest Azza Mustafa. Other standout films this year include Disco Afrika (by Luck Razanajaona), O Ancoradouro do Tempo (by Sol de Carvalho), Touki Bouki (by Djibril Diop Mambety) and Mario (by Billy Woodberry).
