Asimètric Gallery
By Michael Mueller

Mònica Sampietro started with painting before founding Asimètric Gallery in 2019, and her tattoos mix botanical motifs with loose black brushstrokes. On a piece she designed with Franco Risolo, his colorful botanicals meet her gestural black lines.
Eleven resident artists work at the studio on Carrer de la Providència in Gràcia; tattoos are by appointment, booked through the online calendar. Franco, Menina and Fer Fervescent all work in botanical and floral fine line. Sit Cantallops draws naïf scenes and Andrea Perez makes surreal illustrations. Jio works in abstraction, Bosque in microrealism and Demon, who’s been tattooing for more than twenty years, in blackwork and dotwork. Carla Bianchi does oncological and reconstructive tattooing; guest tattooers visit throughout the year.
The artists ease nervous clients’ fear of needles and provide personal aftercare instructions. The light room is full of plants and artwork, and the studio sells prints by the tattooers.
