World Press Photo 2026 returns to the CCCB for its 22nd edition, bringing together some of the most important photographs taken over the past year. One of the world's most prestigious photojournalism exhibitions, it showcases the winning images from the international competition.
This year's exhibition features 144 photographs by 42 award-winning photographers, covering everything from the wars in Gaza and Ukraine to migration, political protests, gender issues and the climate crisis. The prestigious World Press Photo of the Year goes to American photographer Carol Guzy for Separated by ICE, a heartbreaking image of two young girls clinging to their father as he is detained by US immigration authorities in New York.
Some other highlights include Brais Lorenzo's photographs of the devastating wildfires in Galicia and Luis Tato's coverage of youth protests in Madagascar. This is one of Barcelona's most important annual photography exhibitions, and it serves to remind us of the power of an image to tell stories.
