Barcelona obertura spring festival 2025
By Charlotte Stace

Spring is just around the corner. To celebrate the coming season, Barcelona’s Obertura Spring Festival is set to transform the city into a hub of classical music once more.
This festival, organised by the city's three main musical institutions - Liceu Opera Barcelona, Palau de la Música Catalana, and L'Auditori Barcelona - features a diverse lineup of over 40 concerts and operas, bringing together more than 500 artists across 26 venues between March and April.
Highlights this year include: Wagner's Lohengrin, directed by Katharina Wagner at the Liceu, and a special recital featuring sopranos Nadine Sierra and Pretty Yende. Palau de la Música will host performances by ensembles such as musicAeterna under Teodor Currentzis and the Franz Schubert Filharmonia with Ton Koopman. L'Auditori will feature the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra conducted by Juanjo Mena, with violinist Marc Bouchkov as a soloist.
