Barry Adamson 2024
By Charlotte Stace
British musician and composer Barry Adamson comes to Sala Apolo. Born in Manchester, the musician initially started out as a graphic designer before turning to music. He burst onto the scene in the late 1970s as a member of the post-punk band Magazine, Adamson went on to work with Visage, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and the electro musicians Pan Sonic.
In the late 1980s, he went solo and released the EP The Man with the Golden Arm in 1988. Interestingly, each of his solo albums acts as the soundtrack to an imaginary film. His solo work is heavily influenced by the work of John Barry, Elmer Bernstein and Ennio Morricone, and features genres such as jazz, electronica, soul, funk and dub-styles.
Now he’s embarking on a new tour to celebrate over 40 years of his career and to present his 10th solo album, Cut to Black (2024).
