Fast feet and vintage swing take over Barcelona for the return of Barcelona Shag Festival. Collegiate shag emerged in the US during the 1930s, and it pairs lightning-quick footwork with the bounce of swing. The festival gathers devotees from across Europe to celebrate it properly.

The programme ranges from classes for different levels to masterclasses, performance labs and competitions, with international teachers including Cherry & Filip, Steve & Chanzie, Fancy & Jeremy and Arnas & Egle. When lessons finish, the focus shifts to the dance floor, with a soundtrack from Martin Burguez & His Rhythm Combo, The Hot Swing Sextet and The Shag Sharks.

There are DJs, parties and plenty of opportunities to put your footwork to use, plus beach after parties with The Shag Sharks for anyone still standing. Whether you’re a shag dancing aficionado, or simply someone with a keen interest to take up a new hobby, everyone is welcome.
