Beginner Ukulele Workshop
By Charlotte Stace

Fem que soni: Toquem l’ukulele! is a beginner-friendly workshop that’s basically a permission slip to pick up a ukulele and start making music straight away. It’s designed as an easy, hands-on introduction, where learning to play some simple chords is the aim of the game.
Small and cheerful, the ukulele is a four-string instrument from Hawaii (with Portuguese roots) whose soft sound makes it perfect for first-timers - you can learn a few chords quickly and start playing songs almost immediately.
Over the workshop, you’ll learn the essentials (how to hold the instrument, simple rhythms, starter chords and basic strumming patterns) and build confidence by actually playing together. It runs for around 75 minutes and is offered on multiple dates as part of the Museu de la Música’s family/educational programme.
