Canelita
By Charlotte Stace

Canelita returns to Sala Apolo as one of the most recognisable voices in contemporary flamenco, with a style that moves between fandangos, bulerías, rumbas and tangos without losing its core. A mix of tradition and contemporary music is central to his appeal - rooted in cante, but with a reach that extends well beyond.
Born Jonathan Vera Granja in Algeciras, Canelita came up from the neighbourhood of La Bajadilla and was discovered while still very young by Manzanita during the recording of a tribute album. He released his debut Vivo Errante (2004) as a teenager, and over the years built a following through songs such as “Saltaré,” “Vuelvo” and “A la orilla de tu boca,” shaping a career that blends flamenco, pop and rumba.
Now’s your chance to catch him performing live. Tickets cost 30 Euros. Doors open at 7.30pm.
