Caroline are an eight-piece band formed in London in 2017, built around founders Jasper Llewellyn, Mike O’Malley and Casper Hughes. Hughes and Llewellyn first played together while studying at the University of Manchester. They started by meeting weekly to improvise, then shaped those sessions into finished songs as the lineup gradually expanded into the full octet that it is today.

The band has released two studio albums - Caroline (2022) and Caroline 2 (2025) - to widespread critical acclaim. Together they approach various genres such as folk rock and Midwest emo based on post-rock. They sound like bands such as Talk Talk, The Books, Panda Bear, and Arthur Russell and yet, at the same time, they sound like no one else.

This Primavera Tours run brings them to Sala Upload this month with the other members: Oliver Hamilton, Magdalena McLean, Freddy Wordsworth, Alex McKenzie, and Hugh Aynsley.
