Guy Brewer is a veteran and much-respected presence on the fringes of UK electronic music, achieving multi-genre renown under aliases including Shifted (techno), Covered in Sand (dubbed-out minimalism, rhythmic noise, drone and feedback), Alexander Lewis (ambient, noise) and Pacific Blue (minimal). Shifted and his techno label Avian, through which much of his Shifted work was released, were his primary creative outlets for a decade and change, but in 2023, feeling constrained by the techno genre, Brewer launched Carrier.
This project is hard to nail down sonically, sitting somewhere between experimental electronica and techno and turning sound into "living matter: mutable, unstable, tense". It's probably the most interesting project yet from an always- restless artist. Support from local producer R-010, whose new solo live show combines hybrid percussion, spatial atmospheres, and fragmented rhythmic structures into a fascinating crossover between ambient, post-dub, and deconstructed dance music.
