Ciutat Flamenco Festival 2026
By Charlotte Stace

Barcelona’s annual festival Ciutat Flamenco honours centuries of tradition, bringing together dancers, musicians and creators who treat flamenco as something to celebrate and push into unexpected territory.
This year’s highlights include José Maldonado’s Guacamayo, where dance and painting collide; National Dance Prize winner Ana Morales exploring the form through Más que baile; and rising Tarragona talent Yoel Vargas, whose Óbito blends flamenco with classical and contemporary music. Jordi Latorre throws performance and live visuals into the mix, while Ciutat Batalla turns improvisation into a full-on flamenco dance battle.
Once again, the festival aims to remind us that flamenco is not only danced, played or sung, but also thought, taught and written. Check the full program for more leading as well as up-and-coming names on the scene, as well as parallel activities and free performances.
