Sean Canty and Miles Whittaker, both longtime fixtures on the Manchester electronic music scene, have by now spent more than 15 years in the shadows between dark ambient, dub, industrial and fractured techno together as Demdike Stare. Their latest LP, The Weight of Culture, released in September last year, found the pair continuing to explore dark, immersive electronic soundscapes, blending elements of ambient, experimental, and club-inflected rhythms with their signature textural approach.

Live, the pair unsurprisingly favour atmosphere and tension over spectacle, and the dark, dense and ritualistic sound world they create should make this a highlight of Casa Montjuic's impressively stacked winter season of experimental live music.
