Destroyer (solo show)
By Kit Macdonald

Vancouver's Dan Bejar launched Destroyer as a home recording project in the mid-1990s, and in the three decades since has turned his grand art-rock project into one of the most singular and beloved ventures in contemporary indie. Literary lyrics, skewed pop melodies and restless arrangements are Destroyer's stock in trade, but their sound is often wonderfully difficult to pin down.
Though Destroyer started as a solo project, they have been very much a full band for a long time now, and a typical live show reflects that, but this stripped-back show at Sala Upload will just feature Bejar and his acoustic guitar, playing from his back catalogue in an intimate environment. Doors are at 8.30pm, and tickets are still available on Dice.
