Dominique
By Charlotte Stace

Dominique Fils-Aimé’s music is an exploration of African-American musical traditions, blending blues, jazz and soul with contemporary social commentary. Her repertoire is more than a collection of songs, it’s a reflection on history, resilience and artistic evolution. From her debut album Nameless (2018) to her most recent Our Roots Run Deep (2024), she crafts a sound that is both rooted in tradition and modern.
She’s gone from strength to strength, earning prestigious accolades along the way such as a JUNO Award and a Félix prize. Now she comes to Jamboree Jazz club to perform alongside her band: Harvey Bien-Aimée (on drums), Étienne Miousse (on guitar), David Osei-Afrifa (on keyboards) and Danny Trudeau (on bass).
Through her music, Dominique honours the cultural legacy of African-American music, while forging a bold and innovative path forward for herself and others. This is one live performance not to miss.
