Edwyn Collins comes to Sala La Nau as one of British pop’s great survivors. The Scottish singer-songwriter first made his name with Orange Juice, the post-punk band he led from the late 1970s, helping define a witty strain of indie pop that still echoes through British music. That early legacy alone would be enough, but Collins’s solo career gave him a second chapter.

That solo chapter includes the 1994 album Gorgeous George and, of course, “A Girl Like You,” the hit that pushed him onto an international stage. This Spanish tour revisits both that solo catalogue and the Orange Juice classic “Rip It Up,” making it a proper run through a singular career.

Another reason to catch him live is this is Collins’s final Spanish tour, under the title “The Testimonial Tour. A Last Lap Around Spain.” After returning to music following the serious brain haemorrhages he suffered in 2005, that makes this show feel especially significant.
