Electric Eel Shock
By Kit Macdonald

Aki Morimoto, Tomoharu "Gian" Ito and bassist Kazuto Maekawa have been doing their ridiculously energetic, ridiculously fun thing for more than three decades, having formed in Tokyo in the great rock year of 1994. Since then their reputation for high-octane live shows – with Gian often performing naked save for a strategically placed sock – has been unbroken and unrivalled, their Black Sabbath and Ramones influences worn with a smile and a healthy and humorous appreciation of the absurd.
Albums such as 2004's Go Europe! And the following year's Beat Me captured their raw sound and irreverent spirit perfectly and were responsible, along with their memorable live shows, for gaining them a modest but dedicated European and worldwide fanbase they've never lost. Spain has always been receptive to their charms, and this is the first of six dates here to promote their new LP, Heavy Metal Black Belt.
