Eraserhead Xiu Xiu (MICELI Festival Prelude)
By Kit Macdonald

Having previously covered the music of Twin Peaks, Jamie Stewart and Angela Seo's long-running Xiu Xiu project here delve into David Lynch's most deeply unsettling work: Eraserhead. The perfect conceptual fit we hadn't realised we needed until right now, Xiu Xiu, like Lynch, are dedicated dissecters of the American Dream, and their appetite for strangeness and dreaminess and DIY live instrumentation and vocals should make this a truly unique live event. It's billed as "an experience between a concert and an art installation that will take place at Upload, a space with the most essentially Lynchian atmosphere possible" – a one-off experience not to be missed, in other words.
The event serves as a prelude to the MICELI festival, which will take place from April 29 to May 2 at various venues in Barcelona and has an incredibly impressive lineup this year that includes Warp's Seefeel, the brilliant Welsh-language goth-rock band Tristwch Y Fenywod and the analogue ambient giant Jonny Nash.
