Erik truffaz
By Charlotte Stace

French-Swiss trumpeter Erik Truffaz brings his fusion of jazz and electronic music to El Molino. Unlike typical classic jazz artists, his work blends genres, bringing hip-hop and drum and bass into modern jazz (an unlikely combination that he makes seem effortless).
He began his musical journey in Switzerland, influenced by his father, a saxophonist. He later studied at the Geneva Conservatory where he developed a foundation in classical trumpet before turning towards jazz and improvisation. His breakout came in the late 90s after signing with the legendary Blue Note label, which released his debut record The Dawn (1998).
Now he comes to present work from his latest album Rollin’ (2024) inspired by classic film soundtracks such as Taxi Driver, La Strada and The Hours. He’ll be joined by a talented quartet including guitarist Matthis Pascaud, keyboardist Marcello Giuliani and drummer Raphaël Chassin.
