Esencia Viva & Friends: Flamenco Experience is a monthly flamenco night designed for those of us who want the real thing up close: live music and the raw emotion of flamenco. The series brings together a rotating cast of Barcelona-based artists, so each edition feels like a fresh take as opposed to a fixed “show.”
Flamenco is the centuries-old dance of the Romani people of Andalucía, but it is required viewing when visiting Barcelona nonetheless. You can expect the classic flamenco trio in different combinations: cante (singing), guitarra (guitar) and baile (dance), with line-ups changing month to month.
It runs every third Wednesday of the month, making it an easy monthly event to add to your calendar, whether you’re a longtime flamenco lover or you’re seeing it live for the first time. Note: reservations are required.
