Horse Meat Disco 2024
By Kit Macdonald
Twenty years on from their first party, on New Year's Day 2004 at The Eagle gay bar and club in Vauxhall, London, Horse Meat Disco are an unstoppable house and disco juggernaut, with residencies around the world as well as at the Eagle, where they still faithfully play every Sunday.
Their glitter-flecked, glamorous sensibilities should be a particularly ideal fit for this show, which brings the quartet to the grand old Paral-lel 62 theatre, which has borne witness to all manner of carousing since it opened in 1892. Joining them are Lyon's OILAAA, an afro-disco whirlwind of DJs, MCs and live FX led by DJ Bruno “Patchworks” Hovart. Locals Marc Pané, who blends live keys into his jazz, house and disco-focused DJ sets, and Ale Hope, Ona, and Tamarindo, three artists from the female-led Planet Venus collective, which "celebrates the vibrant energy of feminine artistic expression", complete a packed bill.
