Hypnotic Brass Ensemble

Eight of the nine members of Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are the sons of jazz trumpeter Phil Cohran, longtime collaborator of Sun Ra Arkestra and Earth, Wind & Fire. Musical talent obviously runs in the family. The group have played with Talib Kweli, the B-52s, Prince and Erykah Badu, and the list goes on – there can be no doubting their musical credentials.
Their music is hard to classify: one song is cool and relaxed, and the next will be upbeat and get you tapping your feet. Their influences range from jazz to hip hop, R&B and funk. Playing at the authentic 'black music' Marula Café, they'll be accompanied by gifted singer Lauriana Mae.November 29, 2014
