Instituto Mexicano del Sonido (IMS) was founded in 2004 by producer and DJ Camilo Lara in Mexico City. The musical project’s aim is to share the exciting and vast world of contemporary Latin music around the world. Blending cumbia, funk, hip-hop and electronic beats with traditional Mexican sounds like mariachi and sonidero, IMS has become known for its eclectic style and cultural commentary.

Across six albums - including Méjico Máxico, Piñata, Soy Sauce, Político, Disco Popular, and Distrito Federal - Lara has distilled two decades of urban Mexican sound into experimental records. In 2024, he released Algo‑ritmo, a double album compiling 24 tracks that reflect his sonic evolution: from vinyl sampling to digital folk rhythms.

Unlike typical concerts, Lara’s performances feel more like street fiestas - here you’re invited to sing, dance and be merry. If you want to join in the fun, make sure to get tickets now.
