International Roses Competition
By Charlotte Stace

The International Rose Competition is one of the city’s prettiest spring traditions, but it is also more than a rose show. Held in Parc de Cervantes, it brings together breeders and growers presenting new rose varieties, turning the city’s famous rose garden into a meeting point for horticulture and peak bloom-season beauty.
An annual competition for new roses, it draws entries from around the world. Parc de Cervantes itself is home to nearly 10,000 rose bushes and around 2,000 species and varieties, with flowering at its best between May and July. It’s a full spring spectacle and the perfect excuse to see one of the city’s most photogenic green spaces at its peak.
For anyone drawn to gardens, design, or soaking up the beauty of roses, this is one of the more rewarding outdoor dates on Barcelona’s calendar.
