LA LOM
By Charlotte Stace
Instrumental band The Los Angeles League of Musicians, known as LA LOM, comes to perform live at Sala Bikini. Hailing from Los Angeles, the group consists of guitarist Zac Sokolow, bassist Jake Faulkner, and percussionist Nicholas Baker.
The trio began playing together at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, where they experimented with a mix of genres, such as surf guitar, cumbia and Peruvian chicha. Then, in the summer of 2022, their professional career officially kicked off with the release of their first EP. Their instrumental approach, influenced by the sounds of Hermanos Gutiérrez, Pachyman and Khruangbin, would have no raison d’etre without the songbook that built the mestizo musical identity of Los Angeles in the 1950s and 60s. In fact, listening to them is like listening to an old LA radio station lost in time.
They’re on a world tour this year promoting some music from their self-titled debut album. Tickets on sale now.
